D. Steven Barker, Ph.D.

D. Steven Barker has been a member of the faculty at SUNY Buffalo State University since 1995, where he currently serves as an Associate Professor in the Engineering Technology Department. His primary interest lies in developing and delivering effective undergraduate instruction in electrical engineering technology, with a strong commitment to student learning and applied engineering education.

He holds Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from University of Wyoming, 1985 and M.S. in Physics from University of Wyoming, 1971. His prior academic experience includes positions in Electrical Engineering Department, University of Wyoming (1979–1985); Physics and Pre-Engineering, Laramie County Community College, Wyoming (1974–1979), and Physics and Pre-Engineering, Eastern Wyoming College (1971–1974).

Dr. Barker’s industry experience includes positions of Satellite Attitude-Control System Engineer at Hughes Aircraft Company (1990–1995), Satellite Attitude-Control System Engineer, TRW Inc. (1985–1990), and Team Member of U.S. Geological Survey, Water Resources Division – Ground-Water Exploration (1976–1978).
